Hi, I'm Lee Offenberger.  If you want to know a bit about me, this page will help you out.

MariettaOhio.info:  Started in January 1999 as a small project to introduce Marietta, Ohio to the internet, this web site became a major hobby for me. I was constantly looking for new features and trinkets to add to the site.  Around 2003, the fever subsided, and I sat back let things run their course.

Computers:   When Mr. Hartlage introduced me to a Tandy-Radio Shack Model I computer in 1980, I never dreamed that I'd be doing what I do today.  Computers have always fascinated me, and given the right set of instructions can be made to do just about anything you want them to do.  The first day I touched a computer, I started programming.  The result was a black jack game that only used letters and numbers.  Now, I'm programming in PHP, PERL and Javascript for web sites on a daily basis.  If you are young and reading this, I have only one bit of advice.  Grab the keyboard of the nearest computer and learn to type first.  When you are done with that, learn a programming language.  You will find it invaluable in your future.

Sports:   I only put this section here so that I could mention my two favorite teams, the Ohio State Buckeye football team, and the Dallas Cowboys!  I also enjoy watching Manchester United play soccer.

Family:   My family keeps me sane.  I married my high-school sweetheart Jennifer and we have two children, Lyndsay and Ryan.  We are proud of both of our children.

Business:   Over the few years, I have made one of the most interesting career changes I thought was possible for me.  I closed my contracting business to become a full-time web developer.  I still do some networking and software integration for local businesses and individuals, but my time has been consumed with web site development.  The site you are viewing is being delivered by a content management system I have written.  I am employed as the web developer for Magnum Magnetics.

Ancestry:   The Offenberger name, though extremely rare outside of the Marietta area, is quite common here.  We arrived in this region in the mid 1800's, and have branched out across the nation in recent years.  Rather than get into an in-depth family tree, I will just tell you about my immediate family.  My father, George Offenberger, is a retired Marietta City Firefighter.  He has long been regarded as one of the best firefighters in the history of the city.  While we feel that he could have ascended to the position of chief, he retired an officer in order to also maintain his painting business.  He is an extremely good golfer, having played for the Marietta Country Club championship several times, and winning it twice.  He has retired from the painting business to spend his time golfing, dining with friends, or patrolling for that slot machine that is due.

Future:   Who knows what the future holds.  I look forward to watching my children grow and venture out into the world.  I wish all of you a happy and prosperous future and thank you for taking the time to visit our pages.
